Default Early keeper considerations: Keep 5

Hey all, just bored and missing hockey so wanted to start thinking about my future keeper decisions. Keeper candidates:

    Zibanejad C (avg 6.16 pts/game)
Point C (avg 4.0 pts per game)
    Stone RW (avg 4.13 pts/game)
Tkachuk LW/RW (avg 4.04 pts per game)
    Landeskong C,LW (avg 4.03 pts/game)
    Mantha LW/RW (avg 4.03 pts/game)
    Hamilton D (avg 4.49 pts/game)

Pick 5, who gets the cut and why?
    Weekly matchup, 10-teams, 25 man roster, play 3C, 3LW, 3RW, 4D, 2G per night
    Multi-cat league: G (4), A (2.5), SOG (0.2), HIT (0.2), BLKS (0.2), PPP, GWG, PIMS (0.2), +/- (+/-0.5) - skaters
    W (3), S/O (5), each save (0.2), each GA (-1)

    Zib
    Hamilton
    Tkachuk
    Stone
    first four are basically locks.

Mantha - I'll swing for the upside of Mantha.

Arguments for both Point & Landy. Point I like for a potential higher production ceiling. Landy is pretty much plug andplay for 4 pt/gm or more.

I just think Mantha's got more offensive upside & you aren't sacrificing the points from periphs

I think Mantha has 40+ goal potential but do you think he still has a higher upside than Point who just scored 92 points last year over a full season as a 22 y/o? Point is basically a point per game player this year, so I'd put his floor basically there. I traded Crosby for Point + draft picks last year, so having a tough time cutting bait on him already for Mantha. Any other thoughts?

With more SOG & HITS - he doesn't have to put up more points than Point. I think he's a better goal scorer than Point.

One, I don't think Point is a 90pt forward moving forward. He might it again, but that'll be more of a one -off. 75-85 should be the expectation for him.
70-80 with more shots & hits is where I expect Mantha to be moving forward - with further upside as well.

I know we look at Mantha and he hasn't hit 50pts yet... but he's a big guy. They take longer to hit their stride - which he really did this year if not for injuries & CV19. He was on a 70pt pace with THAT Detroit team.

I'm a big fan of Mantha too. Just thought Point was in a higher tier compared to Mantha even in multi-cat leagues. I mean, I think I could probably re-draft Mantha but not Point as I'm sure he would be scooped up right away. But I don't want the player with the highest perceived value...or do I?

I'd say drop Mantha as he's the most likely out of those to be redraftable. The others will be gone almost immediately. I like Mantha as well, but the +/- will be negative for a few years and take away form any advantage he has for hits, etc. Go for the best player in each position (Zib, Tkachuk, Stone, Hamilton) and then the best player from the remainder (Point). Landeskog is good but not as good as the others.
