I don't see the need for Chabot on that team. I'd rather someone like Chychrun over him. And Pelech definitely needs to be on that team. Maybe even Spurgeon. They need more D who are stronger on the defensive side of the ice, even if they'll control play most of the time.

Well, it's probably not the squad that you guys expected to see in this thread, but here's my crack at team Switzerland:

    Fiala(Min) - Hischier(NJ) - Meier(SJ)
    Hofmann(CMB) - Suter(DET) - Niederreiter(CAR)
    Sven Andrighetto - Kurashev(CHI) - Malgin(TOR)
Tristan Scherwey - Gaetan Haas - Andres Ambühl

    Josi(NSH) - Siegenthaler(NJ)
    Kukan(CMB) - Raphael Diaz
    Moser(ARI) - Mirco Müller

    Reto Berra
    Leonardo Genoni

    Extras, dark horses:
    Nussbaumer(ARI), Baertschi(VGK), Bertschy(MIN), Noah Rod
    Geisser(WSH), Sbisa(NSH), Yannick Weber

...it's not Team Canada, but there's some solid current and former NHL talent; on paper it's certainly the most competitive roster my country has ever been able to muster. Goaltending is a bit of a question mark though as the days of Martin Gerber or Jonas Hiller are well in the past...

Thanks pmorrow for appreciating my input! I really wasn't sure if anybody beyond our borders would give a damn about the Swiss team

Yeah, Berra is enjoying the twilight years of his career (and a nice pay check I guess) here in the Swiss top league...

Lots of ex-Habs on that list. Weber, Diaz, Andrighetto! Any input on how they've looked in recent years? Especially Andrighetto and Diaz since Weber just retired from the NHL.

Well, I could add David Aebischer and Mark Streit to that list of former Habs haha

Diaz has been like clockwork for EV Zug the last five seasons. As their captain he has logged between 43 and 48 games each season (a full season is 52 games I think), scoring 27pts once and 30 respectively 31 twice. And ge has won the league championship last season.

Andrighetto had a mediocre year in the KHL (27pts in 56 games) before returning to the Zurich Lions for last season where he got an impressive 55 pts (27 goals) in 52 games.

Yannick Weber is bound to play for Zurich too in the upcoming season after having spent the past few seasons as a depth option for NSH (and 2 games for PIT).

Thanks! Always thought the Habs did well to target as many Swiss as they did, especially on the blueline.
