Projecting 2022 Olympic Hockey Rosters

The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics are on the horizon, and it's close enough where we can somewhat accurately project the rosters. Of course, we have no idea if the NHL will be there (or if there will be another virus outbreak) but it means a lot to the players and the IOC has seemed more flexible in recent months to conceding things they didn't last time around. So there is hope there is a deal in place in the next CBA.

So while we're all stuck inside because of this wretched virus, who wants to project some lineups? Canada, USA, Russia, whichever team(s) you know best.

I'm still working on mine. Keen to see what you guys project.

here's my list on the top of my head:

12 starting FWDs:

McDavid, Mackinnon, Crosby, Tavares, Stamkos, Couturier, Marchand, Marner, Point, Huberdeau, Stone, O'Reilly

6 starting Ds:

Hamilton, Rielly, Makar, Ellis, Pietrangelo, Ekblad

3 goalies:

Binnington, Price, Blackwood (not sure about him but I feel like he's gonna be a very good rate stats type of goalie)

extra FWD : Scheifele, Konecny, Barzal
extra D : Theodore, Letang

thats it...! probably missed someone obvious, let me know lol

I feel like the goalies are up in the air. Not sure Price has been good enough to get 3rd string based on the last 3-4 years.

Kuemper & Hart are going to get serious consideration along with Binnington.

I was sure that Hart was American for some reason..! definitely put him in instead of Blackwood. Price may be the veteran of the group that wont play much but offer XP support to the Binnington and Hart. Goalies was the hardest for me to predict since their status change so much every year..

Finally, justice for my thread

Crazy to think that Price was probably left of most rosters back in 2020 and now, depending on the start of the season, he's basically a lock for the starter's spot.

I wonder if this gives some players a boost this year if they're trying to play their way into the tough to crack rosters. Thinking guys on the bubble in Canada, USA, Sweden etc.
