Default What to do with my D moving forward

I am projecting forward with my team. In a few days Tuch should return from IR, which means I will have to drop a player. At the moment, I am looking at Montour as he has been my poorest performer left on the team this year at 0.34 pts per game with only 5 goals. Come the end of the season, I need to put my IR players back onto my roster. I can deal with this by moving Chabot, Sergachev and Strome down to my farm as they are at the end of their ELCs (I can't do this next year when new contracts kick in). This would still leave me at 1.366 over the cap. I could drop Byfuglien here, but my worry is that he signs somewhere next year on a lesser deal and plays. I could drop Sanheim who is the next poorest performer on my team at 0.37 points per game and 8 goals. What would you guys do in this situation? Cut Buff and take your chances or keep him and wait and see?

I'd probably drop Montour, then Buff.

Montour is replaceable. Eventually, you'll have to cut Buff - personally, I would have cut him by now to maximize the roster, but not sure if your contending for a championship or not?

I actually Sanheim longer term, so I'd keep him if possible.

I didn't cut Buff till now because I was able to put him on IR at beginning of season so he didn't impact my cap situation. At end of season though I do need to move him off of IR, so I will need to do something. Point taken on Buff though.

Yep, drop Montour. With Buff you can still drop him and redraft him next year. He'll be 35 in March and coming off of a serious ankle injury and lost season. Even if he signs elsewhere for cheap he would be drafted mostly on name value. There are bettern options out there.

I agree with others here. Montour replaceable and Buffy about done. His role if he returns will be a shadow of what we used to see from him.
