    Default Hoffman for prospects

    Howdy all,

In the middle of trading Derek Stepan for a couple of 50/50 prospects and the owner asks what he needs to add for Mike Hoffman. He's one of my few good wingers currently but I'm in the heart of a rebuild (third from the bottom right now after drafting 1st OA last year) and Hoffman will be 31 come November. Wondering if I should cash in Hoffman for another winger prospect (he has Jacob Pelletier for example) who will be ready to contribute when I'm competing in a couple more years.

What's a fair value for Mike Hoffman if I put him on the open market?

    League is in signature.

Put him on the market in your league and find out. I would want a lot more than Pelletier though.

Thanks for the quick reply, they're always appreciated. How much more you looking for for him? Do you think he's one of those players who can still be productive/useful when he's 34 or 35 (and I'm competing again) or am I right to be moving on?

In my league I would want something like a 1st rounder plus Pelletier. Plus maybe a winger that plays now.

    McDavid/Necas/ Kucherov/Bjorkstrand/Rust/Nugent Hopkins/Cirelli/Zegras/- Letang/Morrissey/Dahlin - Swayman/Saros/Skinner

    Prospects include:
    McTavish/Clarke/Bordeleau
    Dumais/Korchinski/Hutson

Don't worry I'm not going to say anything more than I have to. If that.

I don't mind moving on from him, he makes sense as a guy to move for a package, but I agree with the comment above that you want Pelletier, a high pick, and a replacement guy to fill in the lineup spot for now.
