    Default Crawford Lehner or Saros

Looking to pick-up a goalie for the rest of the season and the playoffs. With Lehner moving to Vegas, how would you rank Crawford, Lehner and Saros for Wins, SV% and GAA%?

depending on how long Rinne is out ...assuming he comes back soon

    Lehner
    Saros

    Crawford

if he is out for a while Saros maybe better option as he will take majority of starts...

I still think Lehner is the best choice, Saros second.

Why all the love for Lehner? His numbers are not very good. Crawford's are better - with Lehner gone, Crawford will likely get a full starter's share.

In a 10 league where we start 3C, 3LW, 3RW, 4D and 2 G daily. It is a H2H league - we keep 3 players (1 G max), are allowed a max of 2 keeps for each player. The number in brackets is the number of keeps I have left:

G, A, +/-, PIMs, PPG, PPA and Shots.
C - Larkin, Couturier, Kopitar, Cirelli
LW - OV, Panarin (1), Schenn (C), Ehlers (RW), Kreider
RW - Kucherov (0), Seguin (C), Palmieri, Voracek, Yamamoto
    D - Yandle, DeAngelo

    W, GAA, SV% and Saves.
G - Rask, Varlamov, Hart, Mrazek
    IR+ - Tarasenko

huh? Crawford has played 1 game less than this year Lehner and has 5 fewer wins and a lower SV% while often receiving starts against weaker teams.

Maybe "way" better was a stretch.

Wins are often a crapshoot for a goalie. How many times has a goalie given up 1 goal and gotten a loss or given up 5 and won. The statement "often receiving starts against weaker teams" is subjective especially on a nightly basis. If Chicago thought they had a better chance of winning with Lehner, I imagine they would have kept him and shopped Crawford around.

A truer indication of their performance are GAA and SV%. How many goals do they let in per game and per 1000 shots. Add in the mix that Lehner now has to compete with MAF for starts and I don't see his value especially as compared to Georgiev/Saros and to a lesser degree Crawford.

I really believe that Vegas grabbed another goalie more to put pressure on MAF and not to replace him. I believe this is MAF's crease and Lehner is little better than a backup. He is better than Subban, but not than MAF.

Okay, Crawford's SV% is still lower and his GAA aren't much higher. Objectively, his numbers are in no way, shape, or form "way better."

They likely did shop Crawford around. 73%(somewhere around there) of Lehner's salary had to be eaten and the return was basically a 2nd-round pick. Crawford has a 20 team no-trade clause and higher salary. Lehner was moved over Crawford because he could be and there was a buyer.

Rangers and Hawks give up a lot of shots per game. Nash average Vegas slight above average in shot suppression. I like Saros because of that last stat and because he is their #1. None of the other options have that going for them.

I already said "way" better was a stretch and changed it.

2.8 vs 3.0 GAA is a huge difference. 2.8 is 35th best for the year while 3.0 is 50+.

We will never know truly what happened in Chicago and why they traded Lehner and not Crawford, but we know that Crawford has Subban as backup and Lehner is the backup to MAF. That alone drops Lehner below Crawford in value. It also drops him below Saros and Georgiev in value.

So again I ask why the love for Lehner?

Looks like Rinne is just d2d with an illness so that shouldn’t be a big factor in Saros favour.

    I’d rank them

    Georgiev
    Crawford
    Lehner
    Saros

As far as the Lehner vs Crawford discussion, Lehner started the season on fire and Crawford was pretty awful. In the last few months it’s been a completely different story though. Here’s a screenshot of their stats over the past 60 days.

Crawford may not get many wins from here on out but he’s been on fire and is an undisputed starter so I’ll give him the edge over both Lehner and Saros.
