Normally I'd say they might try to flip him, but for what? This isn't like Scandella where the Habs had over a month to turn him into something better.

He's a pending UFA. I feel like this is a GM who knows he can't make the playoffs but also has to do "something" to show he's "trying" to appease some fans.
