Sens probably waited a year too long to get max value for DeMelo. Lots of people think he's worth a 2nd.

I'm surprised the Sens dealt him at all, let alone for a 3rd. Hes been a top 4 guy for them and plays a solid defensive game. Hes still young for a D.
The only thing I can think of why they traded him is because he started talking contract and scared the Sens. I'm not sure.
Lots of teams could/should have been in on him for that price.
