The best thing about the trade deadline is all the hype and rumours leading up to the 12 hours or whatever it is of dead air that’s broadcasted live on deadline day.

It's a long grind. If I were to recommend a casual fan of when to tune in, it would probably be the last hour at the earliest. Maybe even the last half hour when teams finally end the game of a chicken. Luckily if you treat the trade deadline more as a week of moves every day or two, you keep your daily expectations pretty low haha. This deadline might be slow but I am always interested to see what little tweaks teams try to make, and there's always something that happens that catches us off guard.

I agree. A trade here and there seems to be more interesting. How do the other contenders react. The last 60-45 minutes of draft day followed by the recap. I love the game and trades, just can’t justify a full day watching the Deadline show.

The trade deadline has become a bit of a dud the past few years to the point where I cant for the life of me understand how TSN and Sportsnet can do a day long show on the "event". It's too bad that most GMs are getting savvy enough to make most of their moves leading up to the deadline instead of on that day.

The primary reason to watch it now is to see what they will be shooting each other with the t-shirt cannon (Hedger vs Biron). That's how sad it's got.

I remember a few years ago, I was off for trade deadline day. I was so pumped to be able to watch it live. Ended up turning it off around 11 a.m. So boring.
