I can't even get on board with quantity over quality angle. That's just awful.
I'd want to blacklist him for the rest of the season if he doesn't get serious.

Nope, that's horrible.
And don't feel the need to counter if you don't want to trade him. Being offered something doesn't mean you need to go back and find another deal.
