Point vs Crosby

With Crosby's age and coming off a major injury, are we at a point where I should be entertaining a trade discussion around Point for Crosby?

I would accept this exact trade, but it brought up the thought in my head on whether its time to move on from Crosby. What do you think?

I find it really hard to judge what a solid offer for Crosby is right now. I remember when people were trading Crosby for Benn or guys like that a few years ago. Its very hard to know if youre aquiring a superstar who will produce for a decade or if its a guy who might randomly hit a wall in a few years. Although he's an older asset now, Sid has just been so consistent and his dedication to his game makes me think he's got a lot of great years left. I would want more, but not exactly sure how much more. Just be careful.

And this is exactly my problem. So hard to determine his value right now. Glad i am not alone in this haha.

I love Brayden Point (probably one of my favorite NHLers right now) but I would still want more for Crosby than that.

I would also want more for Crosby at this point. I agree it’s tough to gauge his value right now but I still gotta give him the edge over Point in this format (or any format really). Especially considering the other two look like toss ins--unless you’re reeeally thin on D and could use Severson, who’s having a decent season in NJ and running hot currently.

I value Crosby as an 80-pt player for the next 5 years. It will be harder and harder to trade him because he is over 30 and some managers think players magically fall apart at 30.

Crosby has actually been pretty healthy the last 5 years and I don't think his sports hernia is a risk of re-injury like a shoulder or groin.

I would not take Point for him, I would want a healthy second piece to make that trade.

I'd be interested, but I'd want a better second piece than Gourde. If you get someone better thrown in (maybe someone like a Connor, W. Nylander, etc.) then I'd do it.

I think Crosby will retain his elite status for several more seasons. I like Point but I'm not ready to put him in the same category.
As mentioned in this thread and in the past around these boards, you don't always need to trade these superstars who age well because you won't receive proper value in return.

As others have said, the + needs to be better than Gourde, a lot better in my opinion. Crosby is getting older and has injury history but let's remember we are talking about Sidney friggen Crosby here. Ask him to up his offer or move on.
