    Default Cal Petersen - Thoughts

    Interesting question here for Cal.

Quick is still at $6m for another 3 years. His play has been so bad, I don't know if there's a team that would want to trade for him.

Petersen I think is the guy of the future. Is it too early to start counting on Petersen to get some starts, and make a meaningful FH impact?

Am I completely reading the situation incorrectly?

    Thanks all.

Quick will be kept around to mentor Petersen. Despite his falloff in recent seasons, Quick has had a Hall of Fame worthy career, and that's going to be invaluable in transitioning the crease over to Petersen.

It's not too early to start counting on Petersen to get starts. The trade of Campbell paves the way for that.

Quick has been their worst goalie the last year and a half, so expect him to give way to a tandem, then vet backup over this year and next, gradually.

Petersen will get a lot of starts unless he totally drops the ball. He could take over the net if he shows hes better than Quick. At this point Quick's biggest value to the Kings aside from mentorship is being the goalie exposed in the expansion draft.

They will likely split the starts for the time being. Not really going out on a limb here because a lot of teams are going this route. Petersen will get starts, but I don't think he'll get many wins.
