Rantanen VS Caufiel + 1st
Hi,
In my pool, propects have hugh value because they don't count as keeper before the age of 22 (see signature)
With that information, would you give Caufield + 1st (probably 2nd, 3rd or 4th overall) for Rantanen.
Is it the same answer if the 1st become 1st overall ?

Yep, I'd do that.
If it lands first overall, you can probably get a Rantanen caliber of player for the pick itself.

Medium/High risk vs No Risk that's how this trade plays out. With Rantanen we already know he is a young elite winger so there is limited to no risk with him. On the flipside you have a high end prospect who may or may not be an elite talent when he reaches the NHL. I'm obviously not saying he is going to be a bust but you never know.

I think the obvious answer is always the one in the hand rather than two in the bush, but... what are the odds it's 1 or 2 and ends up being Lafreniere or Byfield? Plus Caufield... I'm assuming if your pick is the one that's likely to be 1-4, that means you're not making the playoffs and winning any money this season, or is that someone else's pick? If Rantanen can help you to money this season then do it for sure. If you're out of the playoffs for sure then it's tougher call for me. I'd have trouble trading a strong potential Lafreniere ticket, but Rantanen is the calibre of player you do it for, so...
