Default Burns and rust for sergachev and a pick

10 teams league. Keep 7. Full banger.

Context. Person receiving sergachev is in 9th, person receiving burns and rust is in 1st.

9th place teams owns barkov, pettersson, giroux, Makar, Deangelo, gaudreau, guentzel to name a few.
Do you see any way you keep sergachev over any of those??
So essentially a late first round pick for burns and rust.

No, there doesnt appear to be room to keep Sergachev. Only DeAngelo could come out potentially, or Guentzel if theyre worried about the injury. But it is a bizarre trade. Are you asking because it might be collusion? It's a strange trade although perhaps they plan on moving on from Burns due to age and the 1st round pick presumably nets a quality player in a 10 team keep 7.

I mean it seems a bit terrible but 9th place is thinking only about next year and in a keep 7, 10 team league, that first has value. Probably all he cares about and if he's not keeping burns and rust then he might as well get something for them.

Unless of course you can prove some form of collusion but this is quite possibly a win / win for the two involved in the trade and a big lose for everyone chasing first place. Such is fantasy sports.

I've been the guy selling assets with no takers. When one comes along sometimes you just take what you can get because it's better than nothing

Hmmm. At first glance it seems brutal. Once you dig a little bit it is justifiable as a Win Now vs. Win Later.

From 1st place it's a great deal: Add Burns and Rust this year for Sergachev and a waiver wire drop. Big Win! Sacrifice a 1st rounder to put your team over the top.

The way I see the trade from 9th place is: Burns for a 1st round pick. Guy has decided that Burns is not a keeper and wants to get a pick for him a 1st rounder is good value. Personally I would be keeping Burns over D'eangelo but I can see why he's keeping Deanglo and an extra 1st over Burns.

I don't see it as adding Sergachev as a keeper.
