Will Ovechkin pass Gretzky’s Goal Total?

It's a real shame that between the '04-05 and '12-13 lockouts, and now the pandemic, Ovechkin lost basically 2 full seasons of production. Would be interesting to have seen where he ended up without those external (non injury-related) factors taking a 160 or so games.

I think in two seasons you can almost (for the years mentioned) guarantee that he would have scored a hundred goals. I think he is the greatest goal scorer ever to play the game.

Ovechkin could pass Marcel Dionne (731), Brett Hull (741) and Jaromir Jagr (766) this season. Gordie Howe is No. 2 at 801 goals and Gretzky leads with 894.

As one of the YEs voters in this poll, I am very happy to see that the greatest goal scorer of all time will be sticking around the NHL to watch.

i'm in the club of those who think he will pass the greatest with his new 5 contract if he stay away from injury i think that ovy will play until he reach that mark

I think more then ever he will do it.

I think he can do it... but I think he will require, a more than likely chance, greater than 5 seasons to make it happen.

The next two need years are really key. A couple 40 goal seasons makes this really viable
