It's a real shame that between the '04-05 and '12-13 lockouts, and now the pandemic, Ovechkin lost basically 2 full seasons of production. Would be interesting to have seen where he ended up without those external (non injury-related) factors taking a 160 or so games.

Just enjoy watching the greatest goal scorer of all time do his thing.
It’s such a treat. He has elements of Maurice Richard, Brett Hull, Gordie Howe... he’s like all those 3 in one. He’s awesome.
Ohhhhh yes this is what we need. I hope Ovie still beats Matthews. Sorry Leafs Nation.
9 back of Dionne. 9 in his last 10.
Closing in on Mr. Dionne. 727 to his 731.
Ovechkin, who will turn 36 in September, enters the 2021-22 season with 730 goals, sixth on the all-time list. He'll need to average 33 goals a season to pass Gretzky.https://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...ct/5388709001/Ovechkin could pass Marcel Dionne (731), Brett Hull (741) and Jaromir Jagr (766) this season. Gordie Howe is No. 2 at 801 goals and Gretzky leads with 894.
As one of the YEs voters in this poll, I am very happy to see that the greatest goal scorer of all time will be sticking around the NHL to watch.
Also, Ovi O's were an underrated cereal.

Glad someone bumped this thread, was amongst my first thoughts when Ovy re-signing was announced.
I think more then ever he will do it.

I think he can do it... but I think he will require, a more than likely chance, greater than 5 seasons to make it happen.

needs to average 33 goals for the next 5 seasons.
The next two need years are really key. A couple 40 goal seasons makes this really viable
