Unbelievable. Biggest shocker of the season. The former rival hated coach of the Sharks now runs Vegas?
CRAZY.
WTF?

Wait, what?
Crazy that there's only 35 people in the world qualified to be an NHL coach
Unless there are off-ice reasons for this firing, it makes little sense to me. Gallant has done wonders with a roster that really shouldn't be as successful has it has been (on paper). Admittedly they are only holding down the final wild card spot at the moment, but Vegas is still a very good team with a winning record and Gallant's track record would normally suggest more patience is warranted.
Unless it turns out that Gallant has some sort of personal baggage, he will be snapped up by another team in short order.

The hiring of DeBoer is admittedly almost more shocking to me than the firing of Gallant.

Wow... I cannot believe that the Golden Knights would have even considered this after what Gallant was able to do in year one of its history.
I have to guess this is either:
a) cancel culture related
b) personality clash with GM or owner
Can't be performance-related.
That team has overachieved from day 1 under Gallant. Incredibly surprising firing.
Not just year one either...I know year one was "other worldly", but he took the team into the playoffs last year also when a lot of people thought the team was implode once the adrenaline wore off and other teams figured them out. It would not have been a shock to many if Vegas plummeted hard in year two, and so in some ways I give Gallant more credit for year two. I guess one way to look at it is that after year one it has gone downhill, but that is a bit unfair considering the team has definitely overachieved in my opinion. I know they spent a lot of money, though, so perhaps the expectations are too high.
No doubt in my mind that DeBoer isn't the answer, anyway. Vegas seems like a team that, from day one, is all about team culture, a strong work-ethic, and a strong system which has everything to do with Gallant, imo.

He's the Pacific teams head coach in the All-Star game. What's gonna happen with that?

was GMGM feeling left out at the GM meetings with all the other fired coaches?
Any current team running an interim coach? Or any other coaches on the hot seat? Cuz... Gallant won't be unemployed long.

All quotes from McCrimmon have him claiming the firing was performance-based. Is this just him swinging his dick around?
Jesse Granger @JesseGranger_
Kelly McCrimmon- "In order for our team to reach its full potential, we determined a coaching change was necessary. Our team is capable of more than we have demonstrated this season."
I don't know the agreement between George McPhee (President, former GM), and Kelly McCrimmon (GM, former Assistant GM) on who they can fire, but maybe it's just a new GM (promoted May 2nd, 2019) just not liking Gallant?

There is ~10 teams that should be replacing their current coach with Gallant, including some playoff teams.
Yep sounds like he just wants "his guy". Or everyone is just trying to have their own St. Louis story. Either way it looks like Gallant is getting screwed once again. I personally hope Detroit brings him in. He played with Stevie in the 80s and early 90s.
How wild is it that now the former coach of their biggest rival is now taking over this team.
