    Question Seguin or Guentzel

Who do you prefer going forward, next year + ? Seguin or Guentzel ?

Seguin more proven but slow year, Guentzel pretty good year until the injury.

To early to pull the plug on Seguin ?

    THx!

i didnt pay much attention to guentzel this year, but he was on fire prior to injury... just not sure if thats a product of playing with guys like malkin... or can he keep it up after malkin and crosby are gone....
i would say seguin still holds more value though

I dealt Guentzel for Seguin after the injury, and I think I lost the deal--but I'm trying to stay in the mix.
Our league is points-only, so categories would be important to consider.

I still prefer Seguin beyond this year, despite what Guentzel was doing before his injury.

In a points only league Seguin should be valued as a 75ish point player with some upside but I wouldn't call that elite with several guys going over 100 and in the 90s these days.

Guentzel is going to play with Crosby or Malkin at 5on5 and both of them on pp1 forever more. Plus he's quite a good player with a really nice release on his own.

Seguins value is higher in leagues with more cats but I think he's a tad overvalued in points only leagues. He hasn't had more than 80 points in 5 seasons and he's only done it once with 84 six years ago. He hasn't been able to take that next step point wise that alot of us thought he would. What you do get with Seguin is a guy that doesnt miss alot of games and will get 30+ goals and 70+ points like clockwork, there is definitely value to that.

My point is that this is probably quite close at this stage and far from automatically Seguin. If I owned one I'm not sure I'd trade either of them for the other straight up. Of course if I was contending and owned Guentzel I'd do it but assuming he was healthy with a long term outlook (3 years) I don't think I would.

If you look at Guentzal's numbers over his career, season by season and his playoff stats, I think it's safe to say in points only, it's guentzal for me.
