I dunno if I like Hynes.... wasnÂ’t exactly getting brilliant results in NJD... certainly not defensively. I mean, the group was inferior in talent but still... I think I would have preferred DeBoer if they had to recycle.

I'm thinking DeBoer declined and the Preds had to act fast. When the Preds claim Hynes was their top guy all along I call bullshit.

The real question here is do we take a swing on Granlund as I imagine he's available in a ton of leagues that he was drafted in. His production this season doesn't make a ton of sense. Hopefully we see a decent amount of what PP1 looks like tonight against the Bruins.

For once I agree with Milbury...that a big problem this team has is a slew of underachievers down the middle. 21 mill locked up in your top 3 centers for pretty average production.

The consensus around the league was that Hynes was a good coach on a really bad team.

A lot of overblown hype with who they signed/acquired this summer.

Simmonds & PK both underwhelming in 18/19... somehow NJ was expected to make them relevant again. PK's problems were beyond Nashville last year.
Gusev a complete wildcard who's been better since Hall left
too much belief Hall is a perennial MVP level player. He won the Hart because he was pissed at Edm and carried a huge chip on his shoulder.
Hughes. rightfully so, but not enough consideration he wasn't physically ready to jump from the USDP to the NHL... very few have done it and done it well... wait have any?
Not to mention NJ has marginal goal-tending at best.

Talk around the league when he got fired was that he wouldn't be unemployed long.

John Hynes didn't just play with Nashville Predators AGM Jeff Kealty at BU but was his roommate apparently

Sounds a lot like the problems he’s coming to solve in Nashville. Underperforming star forwards. Wild card Granlund and marginal goaltending...

I don’t know if DeBoer declined. It’s a great opportunity. It’s a good team with good pieces in a competitive division with good fans. He’d have jumped at it I think.

Proof is in the pudding as always but Hynes wouldn’t have been my first choice.

Not sure if they're that bad or if Hynes was the problem but things have improved since Hall was traded. They have 6 wins, 1 OT loss and 3 regulation losses. 29 gf 29 ga.

Big loss and every time the camera panned on Hynes he was taking notes lol.

I guess we can see Juice next game until one of them runs with it (if they can).

It's either bullshit, dumbshit, or both. I'm leaning both. He's not even an interim, so they must have at least wanted him on some level. Unsure why, though.

I think it's a 1yr contract, or like just this season. So they just said he's a head coach, but only for this yr. Pretty much an interim, but if they fire him, I think interim head coaches don't get paid the rest of the contract if he's fired?

Or they just keep their same salary, like an assistant gets promoted but doesn't get a pay raise. Not 100% sure how it would work, but Hynes only signed a contract for this season it looks like.
