Default Poaching world junior 1st game letdowns.

After the first day been offered Spencer Knight for my Valeno. Goalies are voodoo and Knight is stuck behind Bob now but who as the higher upside? My thoughts are Knight has a higher upside but Veleno is the safer pick. Should I sell high on Veleno?

Any other players should I go after before there second games?

Knight is the better gamble. Veleno has consistently been pegged as a 3rd, maybe 2nd line center, even with his great year last year in the Q. Knight's impact to a team, if he approaches his ceiling is exponentially greater than Veleno's. Depending on league size, Finland goalie Justus Annunen might also be a good target, if he's cheap. Losing to Sweden in a prelim game shouldn't reflect poorly on him, especially as Annunen was left out to dry a bit.

very difficult to say without knowing anything about your league size or set up. but generally speaking, knight is a better prospect. draft position alone will tell you that.

If all you want is higher upside, goalies are generally a good gamble to take, as there are a limited number of players there who have value. However, that's also the downside, the limited number of spots.

The good news is that he's more likely to improve his value, since goalies are spotlighted more. MIght not be able to flip him for something better for a little bit, but it will likely work.

You don't even appear to own Veleno, so it's an odd trade. I'd still likely make that deal in a dynasty league, Veleno is a dime a dozen.

Knight has FAR higher upside, I'd be all over that regardless of the wait time.

I guess it depends on your patience.

I'd expect to see Veleno in the NHL in a year or two. Knight could be 4-5 years away.

As far as "upside" goes, I'd give that honor to Knight, but upside doesn't win in fantasy hockey, it just helps win trades, because that's what people are paying for.

Thanks all. I have about 25 more prospects but sig won’t fit them all so I only list the upper tier. Thanks for all the responses

Even if you don't plan to keep Knight you could flip him later for potentially a better player in the future
