Apparently he joked about being in a three way with a female tv personality (Kathyrn Tappen is the name I've heard) he was traveling with on vacation with his wife. Said both her and his wife had smokin bodies and loved sitting poolside with them. They are all good friends. It was on the latest spittin Chiclets podcast. The Spittin Chiclets co-hosts again tried to steer the conversation toward Roenick's professional relationship with Tappen, who joined NBC in July 2014 to work as an on-air host. But Roenick, who said another resort guest in Portugal asked about his relationship with the two women, instead continued telling a story in which he joked about the possibility of the three of them having sex together.

Imagine that. Another person who had signed a lucrative contract with a national broadcaster that includes morality/code of conduct clauses is now being held accountable for his own actions.
A grown man, expected to honour his word and contract, suspended. What has this world come to?

of all the people... shouldn't be a shock.
Roenick being Roenick wanting to be the fun guy and giving them something quotable.
IMO... based on his track record. This is a guy that just lacks a filter in determining what is appropriate/not appropriate to say and when.
He was trying to be a comic not being aware of who he is or who he works for.

Is it? Why? Because someone was held accountable for their words/actions? Because Roenick worked hard through the ranks and got his broadcasting job on merits like Tappen? Because the hockey collective is losing out on an indispensable resource? I'm having a hard time seeing what aspect of this is so tragic.
If anyone here went on a public medium and repeatedly suggested what Roenick did and it reached those co-workers/superiors, I'd imagine any of us wouldn't even get a suspension with the chance of reinstatement but rather instant dismissal.

As a reminder of what he said, it's below:
I'm not really surprised he's not coming back.Roenick said they went on vacation together because his wife, Tracy, and Tappen are good friends. When another resort guest asked about the situation, he recalled, "I play it off like we're going to bed together every night, the three of us."
"If it really came to fruition, that would really be good, but it's never going to happen," Roenick said.
