what happened to this guy ? I thought worst case scenerio he becomes a defensive specialist like his old man was .

He started in the NHL less than a year after getting drafted. Why does everyone think there's an issue with him?

Maybe, just maybe, he was rushed and needs more time to develop?

Didn't like him after he chucked his medal and don't like him now.

Too much was and is being made about the medal toss. I agree too much was put on him early. A lot of guys benefit from staying in Europe for a while. Less spotlight and there's no yo-yo happening between the AHL and NHL.

Classic asset mismanagement. Kid should have been in the A, the farm system was a tire fire so the team decided to keep him with the big club to learn from the "teach & develop" Head Coach, he wasn't ready and couldn't handle the pace, so his minutes got cut and he was buried to hide his deficiencies. Wish him luck wherever he ends up.

There's been a lot of conjecture and BS spilled on the interwebs over this kerfuffle that I've avoided bringing up but it looks like there actually has been a development between the Rags and Lias recently

There has been a thaw in the relationship between Rangers and Lias Andersson, Post has learned. Andersson and John Davidson have been communicating directly for about the last 10 days. Andersson has begun to skate/practice with Division II Kungälvs IK, with NYR approval.

Post has learned that Lias Andersson has decided to remain in Sweden. Rangers had talked to him about joining team for 2020 training camp, but seventh-overall from 2017 opted against accepting invite...So it ends until there's a trade...

Andersson would play in Sweden next season if not traded, and perhaps even if he is dealt, depending on timing. But he won't be back with Rangers.

Seems like this is becoming more common. Puljarvi, Honka, Andersson. Wondering if these guys are outliers or start of a trend.

I agree, but I'm still hoping for some kind of a more than two team deal. Maybe a center, a wing, a couple d of different types, and something else. Maybe somebody has a goalie prospect to add in.

I am going to assume that Edmonton sees more upside and trajectory in Puljujarvi and isn't interested in trading Puljujarvi for Andersson, at least not straight up. Who's to say NYR haven't approached Holland about this deal and Holland said we want more than just Andersson.

We all know Holland has attempted to trade Puljujarvi last year but clearly he doesn't see this as a good trade for him or we'd probably already be discussing it.

I am sure the Rangers are trying to find a deal to move Andersson, but much like Holland was with Puljujarvi. Maybe Gorton is trying to maximize his return for the former 7th overall pick. Who knows. What we do know is Andersson isn't interested in coming back to the Rangers.

I think Pulj just wants guaranteed ice time in Edmonton. He didn't like the old management, so maybe the new management still thinks they can mend that bridge.

I think it's a bit of a trend now where players have been told they have more power than in the past. European players forcing NHL teams hands I think will not be uncommon, but this is also a few top Euro's who are on good teams, where the team doesn't "need" the player.

If this was like Buffalo or Ottawa, maybe the team caves. But because the teams have somewhat success, they aren't really folding on the choice of playing "chicken"
