    Default Svech vs Kakko

In points only who has the higher long term ceiling between svechnikov and kakko, I know svech has broken out sooner than we thought but does kakko have a higher ceiling with the team he is on long term? Svech in Carolina has a good team surrounding him but rangers first line is pretty good if he can stay there in due time. Im sorry I know someone posted something similar a while ago but cant find the post..

They have pretty much the same upside but Svechnikov is already producing, therefore much lower risk. So it's an easy choice right now.

Svechnikov for me. Kakko might be good, while Svech is already there.

I think Svech is slightly above Kakko long term. Although, Svech I think is the more well rounded player, so he may end up with duties that Kakko won’t. Kakko could be more free to focus on offense, while Svechnikovs complete game may prevent him from scoring as much as he would if that were his only focus.

Will be interesting to watch, players that play like Svechnikov are great but the wear and tear impacts them sooner than players who are "less physical". He will be at 150 Hits this year, and while he is young should not be an issue. IAs he gets older it will be interesting to see the long term effects. Not sure if anyone has analysis that looks at this?

It's pretty slam dunk for me:

Svechnikov brings the multicat production which obviously doesn't matter in points-only, but there's more to it. As others have alluded to, he's also a very well-rounded player. He can score in so many ways, he's an underrated playmaker, is developing a strong two-way game, excellent physicality etc. etc. IIRC he was even being used as a penalty killer in junior. All this to say, if I had to bet on one guy earning himself 20 minutes some day the choice is obvious.

To really put it in perspective, consider he scored 20 goals last year playing mostly with Martinook and Wallmark and averaging about 14:30 per night. This is a guy who carried a line at an elite rate as an 18yo winger. He put up nearly 2p/60 with a couple checking line players. There's maybe three guys league wide who can say they did anything like that.

Meanwhile Kakko is on pace for about 17 or 18 playing 15:30 playing with guys like Panarin, Zibanejad, Strome and Kreider. Great stuff from an 18yo but thus far doesn't hold a candle to Svechnikov's rookie year.

Svech is already elite in his second season. You'd be insane to consider taking Kakko over him.

Both players' floors are basically what they're doing right now. If neither guy ever gets any better, Svech is elite and Kakko is whatever you'd classify him as right now. On the other hand if everything breaks right for Kakko and Svech never really improves upon this year, Kakko is what, maybe 5 to 10 points better?

This may very well one day be a valid debate but as of right now these guys aren't in the same class.
