    Default Comrie vs. Primeau

Looking at keeping one of two..... Who would like to chime in?

Detroit is a mess....Their goalies have no clear answer. I remember a time when Comrie was "the" prospect for The Peg.....There's not a lot of good competition in front of him.

Price is looking awful - but, his albatross contract makes it near impossible to move him. Primeau only has Price in front of him, but a $10 million dollar contract to fight off as well.

    Id love some feedback!

    Thanks,
    Chico.

I prefer Primeau as a goalie. Even the safest starting goalies are seeing their GP drop so it's not like Primeau would only play a dozen games as Price's backup. Likewise, I doubt Comrie is used like a workhorse goalie even if he leads DET in starts. Not to mention Primeau is in a better position to provide better fantasy numbers per game.

High (fantasy hockey) risk on both sides IMO.

It's definitely like 52/48 on either side. This one is about as close as the Dahlin/Makar/Hughes discussion going on right now.

Nah, the Dahlin/Makar/Hughes one has a clear right answer: all of the above.

    I'd lean Comrie, because:

    1. Price >>> Howard > Bernier, and the latter 2 guys are on what should be their last multi-year NHL contract, if not their last NHL contract period. They've had 1 good year each in the last 5 seasons, and are both over 30.

    2. Price has more years left on his contract than those two will have years left on NHL contracts, even if we include this year for both Howard & Bernier, but not for Price. And the money is very, very different.

    3. Howard is hurt right now, Price isn't.

    4. The guy who can't evaluate goaltending is no longer in Detroit.

I do think Primeau is very likely to get the rest of the year as a backup if he plays just okay, but the upside for Comrie playing just okay is higher.
