I would vote hard no to keeping it up all year. He's had similar streaks before. He just can't keep his cushy lineup spot consistently and he's constantly injured which derails momentum.
Short-term you can try swapping him in for Radulov.
Rust owner dropped him because he needed to add games already having 2 others on IR.
...Pens historically under the Sid/Geno era usually have a quiet or surprising top6 winger, other then the teams main top winger, that produces great numbers. So far that looks to be Rust aside from the obvious Guentzel.
Does Rust keep this up the entire year? On one hand hes getting more ice due to injuries to Pittsburgh. On the other, he was supposed to help fill the void for Kessel and maybe has run away with the opportunity at hand to cement himself as a primary option even when the forwards get healthy.
And if the latter is true, that begs the question who would you drop from my roster for him?

I picked him up yesterday. He's going back with Malkin and PP1, so lets hope it continues for at least a while longer. Here's what I like about what I see from Rust: his peripherals are up big time. 3.5 shots per game is probably going to come down, but that should bode well for maintaining a decent level of production. Even if he comes down to a 45-50 point pace, with sog, pp and hits he's still quite a good own in certain leagues. With Pittsburgh always injured, he should have the opportunity to really establish himself as a top 6 guy. I think in the case of your league, I would wait a bit. Most of those guys have done what Rust hasn't in past years, so I'd want to see at least another 1 or 2 weeks of good production before making the move. You might not have that much time though so it's a bit of a tough call.

I understand the caution that Rust isn't going to keep playing to a 100+ point pace, however, I don't understand the idea he's going to be waiver fodder shortly. If Rust's SH% dropped to his career average (I realize that is influenced by his current SH%) he'd still have 11 goals and 25 points in 24 games. So, still a point-a-game player.
If he stays healthy, he doesn't seem to be a guy you'd want to move on from.

When Sid comes back, Pens will likely move Guentzel from Geno back to Sid. Which still leaves Rust with Malkin... and??
Also, even with hornqvist back, I’d find a PP1 of Crosby, Malkin, Guentzel, Rust, and Letang ?? Rust has excelled at net-front. I think he may stay there. Rust on waiver wire will last under 24 hrs in a good league.

Been burned by Rust many times before so I decided to not pick him up when he was available, starting to regret it now. We all know he’ll end up hurt again or something and the production will dry up, but this is quite a run

I recently traded OEL and Kessel for Rust and Suter. I know Rust will slow way down or get injured at some point, but if he can stay healthy I really don't think he falls completely off a cliff. It doesn't take much for him to be better than Kessel right now and Suter likely produces at least close to OEL over the rest of the season. Not concerned with next year as I am in win now mode.
Here's to hoping Rust can stay healthy and continue to be productive
