I think so. Similar to the hit on Pettersson last year where Mathseon was suspended two games with a little slew foot thrown in for good measure. Should be 3 games in my opinion. Dick move.

Absolutely not. There was no slew foot here. His foot barely left the ice. This was just a big hit that went bad for Kotkaniemi. He came out of it awkwardly. It looked like a man hitting a boy.

If this is suspension worthy, that's the bar. No more Hit and like throw to the ground thing anymore. And if you suspend him for this, make it one, let him appeal, reduce to a fine if possible. But that's the bar.

They suspended Kerfoot for a hit from behind, make that the bar (didn't, Marchand did the same thing the same night, nothing). But I'm fine with if they suspend people but they gotta be consistent after with it.

Consistent. Not the watchword of the NHL DOPS. I will not be surprised by anything they do anymore either way. This guy deserves a suspension - recent DOPS history and the fact that Kotkaniemi was concussed tell me they should call him. So they probably won’t.

Refs agreed - no call. It’s the follow through with the knee/leg that flipped Kotkaniemi (admittedly a much smaller player - like Pettersson v Matheson) onto his head. I guess both Claude and I saw it the same way but then we’re both biased.

Zadorov's right knee is definitely accelerated & lifted quickly into the back of Kotka's legs... causing unbalance.
That's dick move.

Hockey players bodies don't naturally do that on that sort of approach to a check.
It's meditated action. It removes the player's feet from his center-of-gravity. This means he falling backwards onto his head, which he did.
NHL will catch that. He'll get something. I can't see NHL letting a dangerous play like that go.
Too quick for refs to catch. Not too quick for slow-mo replay.
