Giving up too much for Hamilton?
I'd love to get my hands on Dougie Hamilton. And I need to free up a roster spot. The other owner is a Caps fan, and he has Subban on his team, worthy of a drop. I'm thinking of floating Backstrom + Giordano for Hamilton. It frees me a roster spot so I would not have to drop Connor, Kassian or Trocheck. Am I giving up too much to get Hamilton? The guy is rated top-10 in our league.

My gut feel says he won't take it. To get a top 5 player in his position, the conventional wisdom is that you have to way overpay. Guys just don't want to let them go.
I just went through this myself. I sent out many, many trade offers and none were accepted. I ended up just dropping Trocheck.
Who do you think he would drop to make the trade happen?
In a 10 league where we start 3C, 3LW, 3RW, 4D and 2 G daily. It is a H2H league - we keep 3 players (1 G max), are allowed a max of 2 keeps for each player. The number in brackets is the number of keeps I have left:
G, A, +/-, PIMs, PPG, PPA and Shots.
C - Larkin, Couturier, Kopitar, Cirelli
LW - OV, Panarin (1), Schenn (C), Ehlers (RW), Kreider

If he gets Gio in the trade, he'd almost certainly drop Subban. I sure would. NJD is a dumpster fire and Subban's fantasy value is nil right now. 5 points and a -12? I can't believe the guy hasn't dropped him already!
I think I will float it out there and see what he says. I did offer him Backstrom straight up but he rejected it without even making a comment. Maybe with offering Gio I can convince him since Subban is dead weight.
