    Default Jarry vs Murray

Murray is a big talking point amongst the Pens fan base and the sentiment I’m getting is that he’s not good enough (as funny as that sounds after his Cup runs) as he’s been underperforming all year

Murray started last game and lost. Prior to that Jarry started 4 in a row and he’s back in net today. He also supports an impressive 2.27GAA, .929sv%, 5-4-0 record

    ...is the starting job Jarry’s?

Penguins goalie is an erratic position, the team seems to have highly variable results there over the last decade or so, game-to-game, and it's being magnified right now with the goal scoring increase.

Anything is possible there, frankly. Don't count out DeSmith.

I really wanted to deal Murray in the dynasty I took over, but when you only have 1 starter on a roster, and nothing in FA, it's tough.

I think Murray will have the starting job down the stretch and they're just resting him now. He has missed time with significant injuries every year so I like this plan.....from a non Murray owner.

Murray has been shitty in Oct/Nov/Dec for about 3 straight years now.
He seems to turn it around once the calendar flips over.
But yeah... one has to start wondering if the early-career Cups make him a "Cam Ward" or a "Patrick Roy".
Starting to look more like the former.

I moved Murray/Niku for Zadina/Schmidt in a keeper this year.
Too much of me just doesn't like the prospect of him on an aging PIT roster with cheaper options (Jarry) available.
PIT would be wise, IMO, to try to sign Jarry to a 3 or 4 year deal at $3m per, right now.
    Both are RFA in 2020.

Based on this comparison I find it hard to conclude who will be better. Win and you are in?

B2B shutouts in two days for a Jarry....

I still don't think that Jarry is the starter yet. Sullivan is just starting the better goalie right now. If Jarry starts to struggle Murray will get more opportunity.

I added Jarry off FA 2 weeks ago and right now I'm pressing the Murray owner to work out a trade with me because I know this won't last.

    I'd go Murray.

I think his cups have given himself a bit of equity.

The problem here is drawing hard conclusions based on a short stretch of play. It's a fluid situation like so many other teams. We've seen this from Murray before. Last year Desmith was leaned on a lot early and Murray eventually heated up again. He's injury-prone and inconsistent.

Jarry played today after losing in the Pens last game while letting in 3 goals

You’d think that’d be the green light by the coaching staff for Murray to get the next start in but no. Jarry starts today and gets a shutout albeit he did face just 17 shots. I’m starting to think this is a more serious matter than just Murray being off to a terrible start. Really is looking like they’re not afraid to give the crease to Jarry and run with it.

...he has started 7 of the Pens last 10 games and made 8 overall appearances in that time. I’m seriously considering dropping Hart for him.

Yeah - I have the same decision to make. Do I drop Varly or Hart for Jarry?
In a 10 league where we start 3C, 3LW, 3RW, 4D and 2 G daily. It is a H2H league - we keep 3 players (1 G max), are allowed a max of 2 keeps for each player. The number in brackets is the number of keeps I have left:

G, A, +/-, PIMs, PPG, PPA and Shots.
C - Larkin, Couturier, Kopitar, Cirelli
LW - OV, Panarin (1), Schenn (C), Ehlers (RW), Kreider
RW - Kucherov (0), Seguin (C), Palmieri, Voracek, Yamamoto
    D - Yandle, DeAngelo

    W, GAA, SV% and Saves.
G - Rask, Varlamov, Hart, Mrazek
    IR+ - Tarasenko

I’d go Varly since you already have Greiss...I prefer spreading games/teams out personally

Murray will win this job back if he is healthy. Murray has had much better numbers every year through the AHL and NHL than Jarry (except for this year).
