    Default Frozen Tools

Hey guys, I wasn't sure to put this question so I hope it's ok here. I've been trying to get accustomed to using frozen tools and got a little confused.

Its when I looked at Brayden Schenn, it looks like he plays on the 3rd line for the Blues? I dont get to watch a lot of Blues games, so if I'm wrong when reading that tool please someone correct me lol

Where does it say he's playing on the 3rd line?

I'm assuming you're looking at the last three game lines or something similar. The order is just based on TOI for that specific line combination, so with line shuffling, and the better players playing on the powerplay under a different line combination as well, the order becomes different than what a depth chart would show.

I was looking at the last 3 games played, and it looked like he was playing on the 3rd line. Sorry about my confusion.

That's just how frequently each combination is together during those three games. Schenn is in both #3 and #4 because sometimes Schenn/Schwartz played with Thomas and other times they played with Walker.

I'm no Frozen Pool expert by any means but I''ll just offer that, in general terms, think more in terms of line combinations than line 1, line 2 etc. Coaches move guys around big time all the time, the top 9 are often interchangeable, even the fourth line guys can move around, so often there simply is no clear cut 100% of the time line 1, 2... Schenn is playing consistently with some pretty decent talent. That's the important information. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys for the clarification. What's a good place to look at line depth charts?

I'd argue the best place is to look at actual game logs if what you are seeing in Frozen Tools seems odd.

You want to see if there was a blowout where a 4th line got a ton of time, if somebody left the game causing some line splintering, etc.
