Question How do you Christmas Tree?

Just curious - I grew up selling Christmas trees as a teenager.
Now, my wife is helping them get moved from the tree farm to your local big-box-store.
But tree prices have soared in last 3 years, article here:

So... the question - is how do you (Christmas) tree?

    Please vote!

For those that buy a real tree - and don't mind - how much did your tree cost this year?!!!

Everything happens at my parents' place so I help them get ready for the festivities. They have an artificial tree.

Been on the artificial tree for about the last 10 years now.

Other than the absence of pine tree smell I don't notice the difference.

I believe the going rate is $40 from a farm and $50 from a store. That's what I have seen.

We buy a real tree every year. It is always in the 8 foot range and always a Balsam Fir... the price for it the last few years has been 69.99.

And we decorated it BLUE and GOLD this year... long time coming!!

I have a felt one attached to a wall my 2 year old and 8 month old can screw around with, I doubt a more traditional tree would last very long with them around.

I've typically always defied the laws of tradition though and have thought that Christmas trees in particular were very silly. I've managed to keep my house tree free so far but once the kids are more mature I'm sure I'll compromise with my wife and just do whatever she wants. Fingers crossed it's artificial.

I'm artificial tree. I've moved 3 times in the last 5 yrs. From a rental apartment, to condo, to house. The rental apartment I was actually given a Christmas tree every yr (there 2 yrs) as a gift from the apartment owners. The condo I thought I was gonna be there for a while so I bought an artificial tree that was only 4ft high off Kijiji for $50. I ended up moving into a house after only a yr in the condo and I needed to upgrade the tree. So I bought a 6ft one, off Kijiji again for $70 I think.

My GF's family does a real tree so when she "moved in" she was upset at the fakeness of the tree so I ended up getting a candle that smells like a Christmas tree.

I think in Southern Ontario the avg tree goes for $40-50.

Real tree and price is no object. I mean if the tree was $200 per no way but I buy from the local grocery stores/home depots and their around $50 to $75 per. A real tree just screams Christmas to me.

I've done both over the years. The past few years we've had an artificial tree but I'm sure at some point we'll do a real one again.

Family outing to get an xmas tree every year. We all look forward to it. We bring hot chocolate and a few snacks, drive into the middle of nowhere with the truck, then wander around until we find just the right tree. The lucky tree gets to fulfill it's Christmas destiny

Just curious, do you get a permit?

I think it's ridiculous that you need one, but it would also suck to get "caught" and get a huge ticket. I think in most provinces the permits are free or like $5. Unless you live in the US, then I dunno.
