Even if Hall gets a situation like Stone where an extension possibility increases his value, I don't think NJD get the same as Ottawa did with Stone.

I think, with the situation around Hall and the Devils, If they get a 1st + a B level prospect they'd be good. I could be wrong, but my gut says Hall wants to test the market. Just has that "I want to be wanted by a team" vibe. Like, he'd like being courted.

Agree with this. I see Hall be traded as a rental, perhaps with a high conditional pick for re-signing.

If we treat him as a rental then likely only top teams will pay the price for one playoff run with Hall, some have capspace or LTIR sapce. A few teams that have had some considerable injuries this year that might have the LTIR space to make a Hall rental happen: St. Louis - Tarasenko,
Colorado - has lots of Cap space.
Any chance Pittsburgh has the LTIR space from Crosby and the assets to get Hall for one more playoff push with Crosby/Malkin/Letang ??

The issue with Hossa angle is that he's LTIR, so that wouldn't really help with balancing cap hits. But Hjalmarsson contract would (He has a NMC though)

He's a guy who it seems like will never play for them again. Pulj as one of 2 key pieces could get it done, as long as he's willing to sign there to play there again.

I meant the team trading for Puljujarvi won’t have him in the lineup this year. He’s ineligible to play in the NHL this season - I would think that hurts his value a bit.

Agreed with this. Edmonton is fun to talk about because they need a scoring winger and Hall was there previously but I don't see it happening. Arizona is having this amazing season so far and could use an elite scorer like Hall. Hall in Colorado just sounds scary.

I don’t think the price would be that high for him as a rental, which is all I believe he’d be. Shero is not dealing from a position of strength - he needs to avoid getting Tavaresed.

More importantly - see my post above re the Habs and a playoff spot.
