Default Time to Drop Girard? Will REP

For league in sig. I traded for Girard in the offseason. I also own Makar so I figured this way I would be guaranteed the two PP QBs on an offensively stacked COL squad. Then they drafted Byram and I am concerned that Girard (at least while in COL) may never reach his true potential. At this stage in the season I am doing well in the offensive cats in my league but getting killed in PIMs and Hits as my team is for the most part comprised of offensive players. Girard will never rack up PIMs or Hits and I'm not relying on his offense so I'm considering dropping him for Brenden Dillon who is tied for 2nd overall in PIMs with 44 and is 7th in Hits with 81. He's the 21st overall Dman in my league just behind guys like Ristolainen and Ellis and ahead of guys like Chabot, Heiskanen, Hughes, Jones, etc.

I was in last place for the first couple of weeks and have climbed my way up to 8th. I don't NEED Girard right now but could REALLY use the PIMs and Hits that Dillon brings. Would I be crazy to drop Girard? I know Dillon isn't exactly a household name but he is quite valuable with my league's cats.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Will rep where possible. Cheers

Have you tried to flip Girard for something that can help your team in another area before adding Dillon? Maybe a draft pick or prospect? Surely one of the rebuilding teams would have some interest in Girard...

I have one GM who is interested. The only guy on his team I am interested in is Ziba. He said he would potentially move him for Girard, Cirelli and Elvis. I told him it was too rich for my blood. The best draft pick he has to offer is a 4th. The area I really need help in is PIMs and Hits and any of the guys ahead of Dillon in terms of value and production would not be moved for Girard. With our cats he is virtually dead weight.

I'd be all over the Zibanejad offer considering you're ready to drop Girard anyway

He has Korpisalos so he's been bugging me about Elvis for a while now. I am a bit worried about parting ways with him as he has tons of potential and I may end up regretting it later if he turns into a stud. Cirelli has tons of potential too but with Stammer and Point he will likely be relegated to 3rd line duties for a while. With Stammer on the shelf and top 6 minutes he's proving that when given the opportunity he is able to produce.

I decided last season to do a mini "rebuild" and traded vets with name recognition for young guns with high upside and picks. Wasn't expecting to be competitive at all this year and Elvis was part of my long term plans.

Ziba is a stud though so in the end I would likely be happy to have him regardless. Would I be crazy NOT to make the offer and hope he bites?

    Two thoughts:
    - If you are ready to drop Girard anyways, why wouldn't you offer him to the OGM for a 4th round pick? Surely a 4th round pick is worth more than no pick?
    - Given that you have Vas, Binnington, Saros and Sorokin, I do think you can move Elvis + Cirelli for Zibanejad. You can then pick up Dillan off the wire. Huge short-term upgrade, and there are no guarantees with Elvis. (I like the kid, but Zibby covers all cats)

Thanks for your input. I'm going to make the offer and see if he bites. Cheers
