    Default Marino

Anyone seen this guy play? He痴 on a heater right now and I知 considering taking a flyer on him.

For me it would mean dropping Dunn and claiming Marino from waivers. Thoughts?

Since it's only a Keep 8, I'd try that. Roll the hot hand and drop Marino when he slumps
In Monday ramblings I thought he could be a Lajoie (i.e. hits a wall and stops soon), but ride it while it lasts

Mine all the value you can out of this guy. He's getting points consistently and playing big minutes.

And yeah, I’ve seen him play up close. Numbers are good, sure, but he also defends well, covers back and pushes offensively like he’s in 3rd or 4th year. Between this guy and Marcus Pettersson, Penguins ‘D’ can absorb injuries better than past years.

Marino/Petterson are better than many of their higher priced defenders. I'd expect him to hang around a while, but ride him while he's hot. Pettersson is more a fixture moving forward, but they are finally putting together some defenders who can play.

The concern I have is the lack of PP opportunity. So when he goes cold, itll probably be really cold.

I知 in the same spot. I like Dunn better. First pairing, PP2 and shoots. Pittsburgh mgmt is high on the kid but not much of a pedigree coming in. I知 sticking with Dunn but Good luck either way.

Last game, 26 mins played, 1g, 1a, +3, 3 hits, 3 bs. Total for the year 15 points in 32 GP. Since beginning of November, when his started seeing a big increase in ice time and role, he has 14 points in 21 games. And hat's without getting much PP time. And the eye test says he's good. I think we have ourselves a real gem here, folks.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

I did grab him off waivers after dropping Dunn and so far enjoying the ride!

I’m sorely tempted to drop Petry for Marino (orIan Cole) in the league below. I traded for Petry a few months ago but he’s been fairly disappointing.
TEAM (Previous Year's Keepers in Bold):
Centres: Eriksson Ek, Crosby, Bennett and D Strome
Wingers: Kucherov, J Robertson, Fiala, Wilson, Stone, Konecny, Drouin
Dmen: Josi, Dobson, Seider, Montour and Trouba
Goalies: Hellebuyck, Demko, Allen and Montenbault

    H2H CATS:
Skater Cats: G, A, +/-, PIM, PPP, SOG, Hit, Blk
Goalie Cats: GS, W, GAA, SA, SV%

    Roster:
    2LW, 2RW, 2C, 4D, 2Util, 2 G

12 team, 6-keeper league (keeper cost based on draft position; keeper cost increases by 2 rnds each year until hits 5th round cost, then increases by 1 rnd each year), 19 rnd draft. Undrafted FA pick ups cost 18th round pick to keep.

I would. I am very impressed with Marino and I think he will (and is) better than Petry.

You think Petry is the better drop over Hronek in this case?

Probably not. Hronek has more potential, I think, but at this time I prefer Petry.

I haven't seen him play enough, but one of my best buddies loves the Pens and follows them very closely.
I asked him about Marino a couple weeks ago and he spoke glowingly about him. "Solid all-around player but limited upside. i.e. 35 to 40 point potential "

Well, he is on pace for 35 points in his rookie year, with limited PP time and limited time OA in his first 10 games. I would not trust anyone who says his offensive limit is 35-40 points,
