Thanks, this helps me wrap my head around it. I was wondering if Hughes' slow start was something to be concerned about in the future.

This is a very, very weird thread for me. Gaudreau is the guy who has the best chance of being a 99 point player in the NHL, as there's a 100% chance he will do that at some point in his career.

However it seems like nobody thinks he has any chance at ever being a 100 point player, which is, to me, utterly bizarre, given the fact I posted above, and his age. I realize it may not happen, but I'm much more confident projecting a guy who with more track record.

I'd be willing to trade trade Hughes for him if you are convinced they have similar (note: not the same) upside, but not a 1st overall pick, as you want the pick, as it has no keeper cost. Positional scarcity has me lean to the winger, and that's why.

Sounds good. I think I might see if I can do a trade for Hughes and a 1st rounder (2nd overall) for Gaudreau and a 4th.

You guys helped me get a trade done. I ended up getting Johnny and the top 2nd for E. Karlsson and a 4th.

Im not low in Gaudreau...thats why i said trade huges for him...im just very high on Lafrenniere, i think he will be closer to Mcdavid then to Gsudreau...but its speculations at this point ...

Even better! As it stands now, I'll be able to keep Gaudreau and Hughes, AND draft Lefreniere! I'll miss Karlsson, but he was my oldest keeper by several years, so now they're all peaking at similar times.

I think Hughes career trajectory is, and will be, more similar to Eichel’s. Both had really high Ppg in the ushl and usntdp, both were drafted onto crappy teams, neither had a good solid winger to help out. Even still, maybe Eichel’s breakout was a little slow. Hughes is flashing skill, but also looking a little lost.

Main two differences are Eichel’s one year of college, and Hughes’ size.
