One nice added piece to all this Bjorkstrand stuff is that he's fast becoming the obvious best option to line up next to Dubois - it's been either Foligno or Nyquist on the other wing, but Bjorkstrand has been the mainstay. That bodes well - Dubois is obviously the no 1 Cman and will be for years, could make a hell of a 1-2 punch for fantasy owners. And also PP1 ice time, once he becomes a mainstay there the sky's the limit, given how little PP useage he's had in the past.

BTW the CBJ beat writers are terrific, Portzline et al. They delve deeply into the team and its players. And many of the articles I read about Bjorkstrand point to the profound influence of Panarin on his development - watching Panarin play all those minutes, and how he raised the level of his play, is directly relevant to what Bjorkstrand is doing now, and of course his departure opened up opportunity which didn't exist previously. Thanks Artemi, on both counts!

Bjorkstrand with his 19th goal tonight, in game 46.

Over the last 9 games he’s played 20+ mins TOI 6 of those 9, and 19:40 on another occasion.

Reviving this beautiful thread, and all the love for Bjorkstrand.

Rewarded for his evolution as a player and TEAM-FIRST ATTITUDE with a 5.4m AAV long term deal (which incidentally I think will prove to be one of the best value contracts in the league for years).

He comes out and puts up PPG with 33G/260SOG space to start the season, and that’s with his centerman ice cold and now benched.

The future looks bright for Oliver and his fantasy owners!

UPDATE AND BIG QUESTION: Laine traded to Columbus, Dubois gone, what does this mean for Oliver who is a shooter on the PP1? I think in the end only good for him but they are both RWs...

Depends on deployment. Two snipers moving from the point down to below the net sure makes defending harder. And Texier (eventually) or Domi or Atkinson over on the left side?? Wide open.

I'm mostly concerned about Atkinson as an owner in one league. They're stacked up on the right side now...does one of them move to the left? I have to think he'll still be a part of the top 6, but even just Torts as a coach means that's questionable.

I hate this trade for my fantasy team and for the jets. Dubois has to be real good for this tl work out for them. Laine is a beast. I own both Bjorkstrand and Laine, not happy. Texier too!

Ross! I've missed seeing posts regarding OBJ. Stopped posting on the forum last season and have no desire to return but seeing a reply in my email that this old thread was updated by you brought me back. I even had to get a new password just to reply.

My overly simplistic thoughts on this trade is that big-time players are still big-time players no matter who is around them. They're the straw that stirs the drink and don't "need" other studs around them. I've kept my eye on OBJ (Not playing this season because pandemic hockey is very unappealing to me) and am really looking forward to seeing if he's truly the star we think he is, or is a dependent.

Great seeing your name in my inbox replying to this old thread. Reminded me how much I miss not playing and hopeful things return to normal for next season. Thanks for waking me up for a moment. Hope you're well and best of luck to your team. Go OBJ!

Hey buddy, thanks, and good to hear from you! I’m like you, it had been ages since I last posted but the recent NHL restart and fantasy draft lured me back.

We’re also on the same page hockey-wise although in a bit of a different way. Rinks were open in Connecticut over the summer and I was playing more than ever, and the beer league/pickup hickey level was terrific because some college kids showed up who weren’t playing for their Club teams. But then I broke my fibula on an awkward collusion in Sept and have been out since. On the mend though, hope to be skating come March at the latest!

CBJ wins this trade in my book. Takes some pressure off Bjorkstrand, Bemstrom and Texier.

Sorry, to hear about the fib. Glad it wasn't the femur.

I was going to sign up for an adult DEK hockey league in my Texas-town but I stepped on a scale for the first time since the pandemic started, and I'm surprised a giant sinkhole didn't open up and swallow me whole. I'd have a heart attack running around, but I do prefer goalie, so maybe my extra girth would've been a bonus. While you're busy letting your bone heal, I'll be peddling my arse hard everyday on my crossfit bike. I've never thought of myself as fat, but man I have let myself go like a OBJ blast from the top of the circle.

Looking forward to reading your thoughts down the line after this trade has a chance to really settle in Columbus.

yup 100% CBJ got a steal on this one. Unless Laine completely busts and PLD becomes a HOFer. And with Foudy hopefully turning into a 1 or 2 C, and wingers like Bjorkstrand, Bemstrom Texier and their winger prospects I think this is a huge addition for CBJ.

And yea, I think Bjorkstrand is turning into a fine winger. I think Bemstrom still has pretty high potential also. And with Chinakhov and Marchenko still in the system, I think those 2 could eventually compete with everyone but Laine for those top winger spots.
