K I traded Marchand for Matthews in a keep 6...

Right as the title says. I'm a Leafs fan. I've never been one to make dumb decisions based on that.. And last night I might have.

With Babcock getting fired my initial thoughts were Matthews is free and he's going to blow up.

But I offered Marchand straight up for Matthews and he took it without hesitation, guys in the league immediately texted me calling me an idiot.

Idk I think I have good wing depth, and lacked a solid center.

Ultimately am I a total idiot or what? I probably could've gotten more... I should've tried.

I don't think you're crazy. It's awesome to have a top dog from your favourite team. Plus Matthews is way younger and just entering his prime. Marchand is a beauty (in fantasy), but he's also a rat. Let your heart guide you this time. Being a Leaf fan and having to cheer for Marchand is too much to ask for any mere mortal...

Deal is fine. I'm all for getting your favorite players on your favorite teams so long as you don't fleece yourself doing it. This is a far cry from a fleecing. Exchanging two top end players. Marchand is better now but Matthews still has untapped upside and needs to stay healthy for a few seasons.. It's probably a loss this year but going forward it will be very close with the inevitable Matthews take over.

If I got the point system right, here's the players totals:

2018-19:
Marchand - 563.3pts (6.79/game)
Matthews - 470.96pts (6.93pts/game)

2019-20:
Marchand - 180.66pts (8.21/game)
Matthews - 174.50pts (7.27/game)

I think if you can get 75+games out of Matthews, at the end of the year you'll be happy you did the deal. I'm not sure if you'll win the deal this yr, but you'll be happy you made it.

Based on your point system, it's a good trade for you.

I mean, total points on the season, it's only 180 to 174 for Marchand, and Marchand's S%'s are off the charts right now (ind @ 26.3% and 5on5 @ 20.9%) so he'll slow down bigtime, while Matthews will also slowdown being at 16.9% and 15%, but much less than Marchand.

And even last year Matthew's outpointed Marchand in your league on a per game basis 6.9 (in 68 GP) to 6.7 (79 GP), so as long as Matthews stays healthy, he's the better producer.

That's a pretty good argument that you win this trade outright. Maybe you could have gotten more based on perception? Based on responses in your league, maybe, but you by no means lost this deal.

Nothing wrong with that deal. Goal bonuses along with shots and blocks will favour Matthews going forward, and Marchand gets the edge in SHP. Probably could've gotten more but you traded for the player who has many prime years coming up whereas BM is a real wildcard as far as how long he can keep it up given his current age.
