Was Rees a steal for the Hurricanes in the 2nd round? He has 31 points in just 14 games this season.

Without much context, and considering it's a small sample size, I'll just say that I liked the pick, and I think there's a few teams above the spot where he got picked that might want a do-over.

If he can keep up this pace then he is definitely a steal. He has to stay healthy though. His wrecking-ball style of play makes him prone to injuries. I drafted him in the 5th round of my entry draft this year and have been quite pleased.

When he starts doing that in the bigs, it's a steal. Until then, he's still a promising prospect.

Scoring appears to be up a bit in the OHL this year, in general.
Jan Jenik has 43pts in 20gp.
Connor McMichael has 43pts in 18gp.
Sean Josling (Sarnia teammate) has 38pts in 20gp.

Josling, it should be noted, is 19... and will turn 20 in March.
He scored 52pts in 62gp last year... and has not been drafted in the NHL.

High scoring like this happens sometimes when the right overagers play with certain draftees.
    I like the Windsor Spitfires.
They had an overager named Aaron Luchuk who score 115pts in 68gp in 17/18... helped inflate Dmitry Sokolov (once Luchuk joined Barrie) up to 50g,40a,96p that year.
Have we heard anything significant of Luchuk or Sokolov since 2017/18???

There's usually about 7-10 OHLers that do 1.5pts/gp per year.
Right now it's about 15... and it's easier to find outliers early in the season.

What's better is to check in closer to the mid-way mark. (~35gp)
Teams will have started being scouted/known a little better by then... and the top lines will have been more prepared against.

Do believe Rees is a solid player (from what I've heard)...
But I think OHL stats are running a bit high right now from a junior league that is not nearly as strong as we all grew up with. (NCAA being much stronger today than it was 10yrs ago)
