Sup with his situation? Numbers are terrible other than sog... thought he wanted to go to AZ? Being a point per game player last year... Could he really be this bad going forward?

He's killing me right now and I've had serious thoughts about dropping him but I have to believe he will turn it around. He's still getting a lot of quality ice-time including a boat load of PPTOI.

Dobber mentioned today in his ramblings that he's declining steeply and quickly. He may be on the decline but there's no way a professional athlete with this much talent can go from a point per game pace last year to what he's producing this year.

And people have been saying to be patient with other players who have joined new teams to get used to their new surroundings and so on, why would it be any different for Kessel? I'm holding for now.

His PDO is insanely low, and his corsi is really high. He'll either explode out of it, or end up being like Nylander last yr where it just snowballs into terribleness.

Kessel wanted to go to Arizona to get away from the media circus and just coast his way out with a coach who let's him be who he is and do what he wants.

His Cups are in the bag, the golf courses are nice down there, and the Vegas casinos aren't far away. IMO he just doesn't care anymore.

Kessel sucked his first year in Pitts too.
I'd give him more time. He's a player that can turn around and go pt/gm or above for 40-50 game stretch.
Not a player I'd just dump to UFA land.

As a Kessel owner I am a bit scared myself. His lack of peripherals is keeping him out of my lineups. Sad thing is my waiver claims are more than outclassing him. I feel like this could indeed be a heavily declining season for him. That said, he is the type of player that goes on some crazy streaks, which is why I won't be dropping him anytime soon. Just gonna have to stand pat and hope for the best as I don't think he's got much trade value at the moment.

I'm also of the opinion that Phil is content to play out the string in the desert. A decline is coming (we're seeing it) and as was mentioned earlier, that decline could be steep and quick. I just don't see him going through hell to train and try and keep his game at the highest level. I think he's the kind of guy who has more than made his mark and is content to ride off gracefully into the sunset. I guess we'll see, and I don't think we will have long to wait.

Normally I'd say not to count out a player with his track record. I might even call him a good buy low right now.
But Phil's different. As was said in the rambling a few days ago, Phil's off ice discipline is not much of an issue for a guy in his twenties. But when you get in your 30s, it's inevitable that it will catch up with you at some point. I think he's a declining asset and he'll start having injury problems soon too, as a result of his poor conditioning.

Definitely a buy low. He'll find his way.

Looking at his stats, his personal and 5on5 S%s are low so the 45 point pace he's on is the result of some bad luck. Adjusting for that, he should probably have about 15 points and be on pace for 60. Ultimately, I think that's all you should expect from him moving forward.

His shot totals are in line with last year, but those were down by about 100 from his previous years. He doesn't have an all world talent in Crosby or Malkin anymore to open up space for him and he's never been a fitness guy, so as he ages, I think he'll decline at a faster rate then some others who pay more attention to fitness. I agree with the sentiment that he's on a decline and looking to ride out his contract in Arizona at this point.

Buying low on him could be tricky, as even though he should be on a higher pace than he is now, I think his owners will probably continue to treat him as more of an 80 or 70 point asset. Unless you can get him at a price below the 60 point expected pace, I wouldn't be pursuing him.

Ultimately he'll be useful at 60 points over the next couple of years (hopefully), I can't see him getting back to 80 levels.

I fear the Thrill is done. He’s not putting up any numbers other than minuses. He’s a minus 6 and zero points ints last four. He’s regularly out of my lineup. At this point I’m gonna take what I can get and move on.

Arizona has a 4 game week next week (all on the road mind you), I’m giving him the week to show me something. If I don’t like I see, I will be dropping him outright.
