Should I Offer Holtby For Hart?

I'm in the bottom third of the league, doesn't look like I'll be competing this year. The Hart owner is in first.

Keep 8, restricted to keeping 2 goalies max.

My current goalies are:
- Holtby
- Samsonov
- Saros
- Demko

His goalies are:
- Hart
- Blackwood
- Binnington

Do I offer Holtby for Hart to help him maintain his 1st place position and I get the younger goalie with more future value? Does either side need to add?

If you're not competing this year, yes, trade Holtby for Hart. But because you can only keep 2 goalies max, you may want to quietly see if you can make a deal on one of your other goalies for skater help.

I think this deal works for you. Maybe look into offering both Holtby and Samsonov as a tandem to get an extra something out of it.

I think Samsonov and Demko have the same value and upside as Hart but the former is much more likely to be a starting goalie next season whereas the other two may still find themselves in a timeshare. For that reason I don't hate the trade for you but, at the same time, your acquisition of Hart will basically force you to drop or move an equivalent talent. Before doing the Hotlby for Hart deal I'd see what type of skater or picks I can get for Holtby and weigh that against what I might be able to get for Samsonov and Demko. If you can get a lot more for Holtby than the other two I'd be tempted to go that route and just have Demko and Samsonov as my keeper goalies going into next season.

This is probably a common view. Many people are completely irrational about Hart. His value is based on last year and what he may be one day.

If you can move Holtby for Hart that's fine, but I'd expect him to want either a sweetener, or the Washington Tandem, and to trade you someone else to make it two for two.

I'm not sure it's too irrational about Hart considering his numbers are very similar to Holtby's currently.
Current value says they're pretty close to even
Future value belongs to Hart.

In a keep 8 - Hart is going to be kept. No matter who owns him. They won't let him go. Why else would the OP want him?

I definitely would avoid adding Samsonov to Holtby.
If Holtby signs with another team this summer - Samsonov becomes the #1 in Wsh and becomes a keeper for his owner.

Samsonov & Hart aren't far apart in regard to upside either. That's too big of an add unless the Hart owner adds on.
