One of the reasons for Don's bigoted rant might be due to the prevalence of false memes and stories circulating on social media outlets. Far right wing media sites have created a false narrative that Muslims are offended by poppy's, which is of course just nonsense. Muslims sell poppy's. Muslims fought in huge numbers in both world wars. Over 50, 000 gave their lives in trenches for our freedom.

Oh, and nobody is trying to ban Christmas either. Just thought I would preempt that next little gem that right wing media sites will be pushing very soon.

Wow, the irony of this... A guy who has been promoting the appreciation of veterans for decades gets fired on Remembrance day.
I suspect the brass at HNIC were counting the days, waiting for any slip up to get rid of him. And he handed it to them.

I agree Don has always put veterans front and center. Too bad it had to end like this. Don is just old and it is hard to teach a dog new tricks, ie., learn to become politically correct.

A far more interesting aspect of this is where does Sportsnet go next? Generally speaking their content is garbage. The games are fun but the coverage is mostly unwatchable.

Yes, no question he has been promoting veterans for decades. He has also been warned numerous times to lighten up on his extreme racist remarks. I guess firing somebody in the public eye after a number of warnings about coming across as a complete racist, isn’t justifiable...

i think that segment is needs a change to be honest, its always the same stuff...they could do short segments on next draft class ..different player every year...would be way more enjoyable and would not have much room for controversy.
