    Default Ryan Strome

Anyone actually watching Ryan Strome this yr? I picked him up as a "I need FW from a winger", and now he's doing well. Is this for real? Breakout 8yrs after he was drafted 5th overall in 2011.

    13GP, 5G, 8A, 13pts, +5, 4PPP, 23SOG (21.7%s), 18:12TOI, 91FW-87FL, 4TK, 11GV
    -2.0CF%rel, -4.4FF%, 108.3PDO, 45.2oZS%, 54.8dZS%.

Good - the counting stats. PPG.
Bad - 21.7%s is high and due for a regression
Good - FW as a RW
Bad - advanced stats say he'll fall
Good - getting offensive production while starting more in the defensive zone
    Bad - less than 2sog/game.

I just picked him up last week and watched the game last night. He seemed to drive the play pretty well and I'm starting to think he may be in for a career year if he stays with Panarin? Probably too early to tell for sure, but I know I'll be holding on to him till, at least, when Zibby gets back and see where his deplyment goes from there.

It would be nice! But I don’t think his numbers are sustainable, and when Zibby is back he’s off the top line. But should still get access to the first pp. could also depend on how well chytil does too. I would say with regression he could still have a 65 point season if all things work out. Oh those contract years!

I picked him up late last year and he was very good. He is carrying that over into this season. He is a legit 2C and has wing eligibility on Fantrax. Feels like he has become the player that was expected during the hyped prospect days. Might take a closer look at Matt Strome now that his two brothers have developed well.

It's getting difficult to leave him dangling on the wire...BUT
I expect regression to kick in here, because:
    - His shooting % is sky high
    - He's not a shooter to begin with
    - He might get bumped off Panarin when Zib is back...not to say his production will be nothing...

    What's in his favour?
    - Face off win % is on pace for career best
    - Averaging 2 more minutes than normal @ ~17 min...he's averaged 15 min for the past six years.
    - Interesting enough, his ice time spiked a bit when playing Tampa and Boston....so he might be being relied on more-so against better teams

To quote Kofax who has a great write up about him on the Schwartz vs R Strome thread:
"R. Strome cannot keep up his current level of production. He's shooting 23.5% individual and 16.2% 5on5 (8.8% and 6.7% historical respectively). His corrected production is something like 5 points instead of 11 over 11 games for a 37 point pace. Even if he stays on the top line and sees an overall bump in production above his historical levels, I can't see him producing beyond 45-50 points. Don't overrate him based on this small sample size."

he doesnt seem to fade back to look for passing options as much as he used to . instead , he's using his skill to penetrate below the hash marks .

Perfect opportunity for him. Rangers need a 2C to step up and Strome is the only viable candidate ATM. That said I really don't believe his current insane run is sustainable.

definately would be a coach asking him to have confidence to take it to the net instead of looking to pass all the time . Barzal is doing the same .....

oiSH% is 17.1% ... yeah, highly unsustainable production. Not buying.

Another point (assist) today Vs the panthers. Assisted in Lindgrens goal.

    Looks unsustainable by the numbers.
Looks hard to pass up by the waiver wire.

Thats two apples, one on the PP.
Just get on board and enjoy the ride. Doesnt cost anything. Maybe Strome is just a late bloomer. It happens.

I am definitely enjoying the ride and will have no issue cutting bait if the lines change and production slows.

Same here, I'm just enjoying the ride. Ready to drop him if he goes cold.
