Does Ovechkin get to 50 goals this year?
Man I remember posting this after his 2016/17 year and people saying after he only potted 33 goals that year, that the decline has arrived. Well two Rockets later and an average of 50 goals per season, here we are again. With 9 goals already, does he reach 50 this year?

Offence seems to be going up a little year over year, he's off to a solid start, sure he's a year older but that only matters for mortals. I vote 52 goals for Ovy this season.

I think he does. Whenever he gets close at the end of the season the team usually does everything they can to set him up for 50 (especially if the team is safely in their playoff position). It will be down to the wire as usual.

When he stops scoring 50 goals in a season I think we will truly appreciate how amazing those seasons were. When you go back to the lock out shorten season where he popped in 32 and very well could of had 50 in a full season. Only him and Draisatil last year have any 50 goal seasons. Just unreal.

Basically, he's at the point where betting against him seems like the smart play, then he just does it again.
Reminds me of people saying the Spurs weren't making the playoffs as preseason predictions the last few years, because a streak has to end sometime. While that's true, a streak never has to end this year just because it's been going a while.
