Too small a sample to get overly excited, but I see Primeau is clearly outplaying Lindgren so far with Laval.
Any guesses on when Primeau might be fantasy relevant ? 2 years away ? 3? 5+ ?

Carey Price, IMO, is going to follow a similar career path as Henrik Lundqvist.

He will be playing to the end of his contract.

So unless he's traded, which is unlikely as he has a NMC, or Primeau is traded, you're likely going to be waiting a while.

At best you see a time share in the 5 years.

Could be as early as next year when Kinkaid expires, but I would expect him to season for another year or two after that. Start of the 2021 season is when he'll get a real shot at the backup role, but best bet is probably 2022.

Who knows what will happen next year once Kinkaids contract expires. What we do know is Price has a NTC and 6 more years after this one on his contract. Could Primeau work his way into a backup role? Possibly. Do you consider a backup goalie to be fantasy relevant? That's the future I see him for for a while.

I tend to agree with this.

I wouldn't be surprised if Montreal tries to turn Primeau into a Talbot or Raanta type back up and trade him while a RFA for a solid return. .
Not sure he'll get there in an appropriate timeline, but move him in 2-3yrs to a team believing he can become their #1G.
