MacKinnon &. Matthews & FHG

Just looking for some insight .

With our league settings FHG has the Top 7 in order :
Ovechkin, Kucherov, Burns, Draisaitl, McDavid, Crosby, Mackinnon.

I shouldn’t be moving Mackinnon unless it’s for someone ranked hire ? Obviously age then needs to be factored in . Am I thinking this properly ?

Matthews is ranked 52 amongst forwards . Because of Hockey Night in Canada I get to watch Matthews all the time . I never get to watch Mackinnon. Is Mackinnon a much better own in our settings ?

FHG is all about the player's contribution in each category vs what is expected. Some things to consider:

1) Matthews is more goal-heavy and only has three assists. I'm guessing this isn't being scored well as this is low for a centerman.
2) MacKinnon has 5 PPP vs Matthews having 3. This is probably weighed pretty heavily.
3) MacKinnon having more hits might also be factoring in more than we think.
4) I suspect there might be some small sample size problems that will be corrected over time. Things haven't normalized yet across the league.

The value system is pure numbers. It doesn't factor in age or potential production for the future. It also doesn't factor in Matthews' value to your team. For example, his lower assist total isn't a problem if you are otherwise strong in assists.

How did they rank head-to-head in your league settings using last year's numbers?

2018-19 season statistics.
FHG : 1. Ovechkin (124 FHG value) ,
2. Kucherov & Burns both 110 FHG value
4. Mackinnon 99 FHG value
89. Matthews 4 FHG value

So I’m placing too much value on FHG values ?
But my roster still sucks lol

That's not true. You can move a guy ranked 7th for a guy ranked 10th-15th and have it make perfect sense if there's positional need or you upgrade another spot in a 2 for 2. Your roster doesn't suck, by the way.

much appreciated, I’m used to points only which is much easier to determine a players value .

I'd rather Mackinnon at this stage with your setup regardless of what FHG says. That may change in the future but for now I'd stick with him.
