Default The curious case of Klingberg

He has just 1 assist in 8 games while having played 22+ mins in every game and is a -6 on the year.

    ...the Klingberg owner dropped him.

I’m out of moves for the week so unsure if he’s even available come Sunday night. But what’s the situation with him? I briefly checked a few places and Stars fans are saying he’s been awful, some even suggesting trading him. The other fans are saying the coach is holding him back due to way he’s being deployed but man, 22+ mins a night doesn’t seem like a player is being held back.

Do you think Klingberg gets back to his usual scoring pace or is this looking like a forgetful year on his end?

A couple years ago Crosby had 9pts in 25 games and people said he was done.
Ovie had a 33g season said he was done.

Kling isn't near that level of player... but a poor/slow start is easily overcome.

2 years ago he was also dreadful - still turned in a 49pt campaign.

The Stars have averaged less than 2 goals a game so far and are something like 4% on the power play. All of their big players are underperforming, but I wouldn’t worry - they’ll figure it out and Kling will be fine

Soon the owner will publicly throw Benn and Seguin under the bus and then things will get better

If he’s still available Sunday night, who do you recommend I drop for him?

I like my defense and just picked up Shattenkirk who scored today and looks like will outscore Hedman for the year. I’m not sure if any of the forwards are droppable without me regretting it and blowing back in my face. I’m thinking Lundqvist even though it would leave me with 1 goalie. Is it a risk/maneuver worth doing? Would love to hear some ideas

Dallas is just chugging a bit right now.
    Tough schedule.
They opened vs. BOS, then STL... (@ DET), but then WAS, CGY, WAS... and a red-hot BUF.
[BOS, STL, CGY are all probably top-5 NHL defensive systems.]

They really need some easier opponents...
    And they're coming...

    PIT
    PHI
    OTT
    ANA
    PIT
    MIN

If those defenses don't give them a chance to get going... nothing will...

I posted a thread earlier talking about Klingberg and Heiskanen's early season deployment. I believe this accounts for Klingberg's slow start (offensively-speaking). Give him time and he will turn it around.

It seems you are drawing too many conclusions based on early season production. Players like Hedman and Klingberg have historically been elite options. A poor start to the season for them doesn't change anything.

I would drop Shattenkirk for Klingberg in a heartbeat.

He got dropped again the other night so I picked him up right now by letting go of Demko. Running 5D right now & 1G.

Unconventional but whatever, worth banking on a quality player like him to turn it around I guess
