Mega Matthews Trade

For the second league in sig (31 team dynasty, 1:1 NHL cap, scoring below), trying to get some perspective, so any such perspective is much appreciated:

Initial offer is...

I give:

Matthews (6.5 pt/gm last season), Andersen (368 projected), 1 drop (Kamanev/Hakanpaa/Chibisov/Ho-Sang all options)

I get:

Scheifele (4.75 pt/gm last season), Heiskanen (3 pt/gm last season), Helly (341 projected), 1st next season (no idea where out of 31 teams)

I have a huge hole on D, basically one slot sitting empty as getting NHL players is next to impossible, so Heiskanen is a big plus. Any other season and I'd consider the Helly/Andersen swap almost a wash, but this season, pretty sure Andersen is a couple tiers up.

Anyway, I'm fairly certain I could get the deal down to Matthews for Scheif/Heiskanen, but I'm still not sure there. Too attached to my favourite player!

in 31 team league where im sure depth is important, this is not a terrible deal but you are giving up 2 best players in this deal...

If ya can get it down to Matthews for Scheifele and Heiskanen than I would do the trade otherwise pass on it.

I feel like this one isn't the way to address your needs at defense. There's got to be a better trade out there for you to accomplish that

I know it is Matthews, but is he really that much better than schiefle? I don't personally think so, Heiskenen is touted and very high, he doesn't get as many hits and blocks a you would want from a d but still in a 31 team league I would definitely do the deal without the goalies involved, with them I would still maybe do it but maybe want another piece if possible , if not I don't think you lose this deal

Yeah, goalies are out. Decided it wasn't worth the risk, Helly could be a tire fire this year. Best case he puts up Andersen numbers.

I do think there's a pretty big gap between Matthews and Schiefele. Maybe the gap closes somewhat factoring injuries. But I think we're seeing Schiefele's ceiling and Matthews can still improve.

Don't take any of this as an indication I don't think Heiskanen adds value, because he does. I just in general don't think moving Matthews is the right way to acquire a defenseman and I'd be looking to get one elsewhere.

I'd try to find somebody who needs a forward. I think your league is likely deeper than the deep one I'm in, since I can find NHL players on the wire, just not much of immediate value.
