if he couldnt play in Pit i dont see him being able to play anywhere else...i say bad team gets him and assets.

Sounds like a Bickell-trade coming. I think PIT is just done with the JJ experiment and it making it fully public disclosure.
It's possibly even agreed-to on loose terms.
I could see OTT taking Jack Johnson's cap hit... and also getting some prospect to eat that for PIT.
The other option is that this is just a surface declaration so that the Pens can played the "we tried, but are hands are tied with cap situation" card.
Then, he gets Alzner-ed down to the AHL.

Four years left, yuck. I would want nothing to do with this contract unless the extra pieces made it a home run deal. Otherwise four years is too long regardless of team situation.
