I just don’t know what Gusev is going to give just yet and I have seen at least a small sample of what Labanc can give and I like it. Give me Labanc.

Points only I might roll the dice with Gusev. But he’s also blocked by Hall as far as top line. And Bratt will be good too.

Labanc for me. He's shown pretty well in the NHL. I think Gusev can also be good, but if it seems close, i want the guy I've seen more.

Lablancs best season was 36 point season in 82 games last year. I think he scored like 30 the year prior.

Gusev will likely beat that before New Years. Either way though, relative to what Leblanc has shown, Gusev seems to have a much higher ceiling.

I don’t think he should be viewed as a rookie either. This is a veteran player coming over from a very good league where he dominated. That reduces his chances of being a bust I’d think by quite a bit. Its not a normal rookie unknown.

Lablanc has looked good. Nothing more imo. Even if he improves this year I think we are talking about a 50 point player basically.

Gusev, even without playing a game yet, I’d think has a shot at 60 this season. That could go up in future years.

Look at how w ell Radulov was when he came back to the nhl. I’m sure there are some KHL stars to NHL busts, but it’s just less likely to go that way imo.

Are we looking at the same Labanc? He had 56pts last year with worse usage than he's going to get this season. But he's going to 'improve' into a 50pt player? Lol

Gusev *could* be a 60pt player sure, maybe even better, but at this very moment Labanc is the safer pick.

I took Ship over Marchesseault and well here we are.....! I always get burned with Russians. Passed on Kucherov and Panarin (great........) and bought Shipachyov..lost Radulov... bruuutal.

I feel like Gusev should be a star, but if Labanc is that good then it'll be enough to sway me. I have them so close.

    Thanks for the feedback everyone.

The KHL is a different league with much different playing styles. Not all KHL players translate well to the NHL. So I'd say Gusev is a bit of an unknown. Labanc seems primed for 60 points. You know he can do that as he was worht 56 points last year. Gusev is 27 so his game is not gonna develop much more. Labanc is 23 and entering his prime. There is a chance we see another gear from him.

So, because the KHL factor lends uncertainty and because Labanc could have another gear due to his age, I would choose Labanc in a dynasty league. The upside of Labanc is similar and maybe higher than Gusev, but the downside of Gusev could mean he is a NHL flop.

A lot of KHL players have not been successful in the NHL lately, just look at Shipachov and Kovalchuk. Sure, sometimes there's Dadonovs, Panarins, and Radulovs, but Gusev is a risky play....especially considering he'll be behind Hall. That said, I think there's about a 50-50 chance that Gusev could get 60-70 points.

That said, Labanc should get at least 50-55 points again and is a safer pick. I'd go with him, the upside isn't worth the risk.
