Varly signed for 4 years..,go for rangers
Looking to pick up a goaltender who will get a shot by next season. I like both of their situations, and they are obviously both very highly touted. That said, which one looks to get a shot and will make the most of the opportunity? Focusing on GAA, and SV% specifically.
Sorokin, will have the benefit of playing on a Barry Trotz defensive team, which when coupled with his abilities, could be magical! Shesterkin, is the heir apparent for the Rangers, and will have a really good team in front of him, offensively and defensively.
Would love to hear some opinions for or against.
Cheers,
Puck

I would also go with Shesterkin. As you said, he is the heir apparent and Sorokin is not that right now. Within 3 years, Shesterkin is the undisputed number 1 in NYR, IMO.

In addition to Varly signed for 4 more years, there is no guarantee that Sorokin will even come over next year. Take the Russian goalie that is willing to play in the NHL and earn his spot.
Both are promising, but I prefer the guy who's jumped across the sea. They are close enough in upside to warrant the tilt to Shesterkin for me.

I think both will get a shot, and I'd expect them to both do well.
I'm in the minority that thinks Georgiev is a real NHL starting goalie prospect. Varlamov is an actual NHL starting goalie - he's not great, but he's serviceable. That plus Shesterkin being in the AHL & Sorokin being in the KHL makes me lean Shesterkin.
If either of these guys costs more than a draft pick or a FA claim, I'd be willing to look at Georgiev if Georgiev doesn't. I'd also put the entire lot behind Saros if he's available.
