The Soilers could claim him to be their No. 1 at this point.

21-5-0 last season. He'll be claimed, I just can't think of which team finished low enough last year in the standings but could use a better back-up. Minnesota maybe? I doubt he makes it down to the Sharks or Leafs.

He would be an upgrade in Florida

Not many teams looking for a goalie at this point so I wont be surprised if he clears.

I am actually serious about the Soilers claiming him. They were near the bottom last year and Koskinen and Smith does not appear thus far in the early going to be a functional NHL goaltending pair. Nothing special in the minors other than Konovalov who is under contract in Russia. I would bury Koskinen in Bakersfield and not play him until he begs to use his KHL out clause, thus removing one of the large errors of the Chiarelli era. Hard to believe the Soilers didnt jump all over Lehner when he was dropped by the Isles.

Oh that's why I laughed. If I didn't laugh about it I'd have to cry.

Can only imagine Pridham is running the numbers on every roster scenario as we speak to see how he can be squeezed in in the off chance he gets to them.

he's much better than an always injured Neuvirth (who's hurt again) or Hutchinson...

he'd be an improvement for Tor period. it's whether Tor has 2 cents in cap space to claim him really

    Here's the goalie depth charts:
    Toronto – Andersen/Hutch/Neuvirth
    Carolina – Reimer/Mrazek
    Vancouver – Markstrom/Demko
    Washington – Holtby/Copley
    Buffalo – Hutton/Ullmark
    Pittsburgh – Murray/DeSmith
    Arizona – Raanta/Kuemper
    New York Rangers – Lundy/Georgiev
    St. Louis – Binnington/Allen
    Florida – Bobrovsky/Montembeault
    Dallas – Bishop/Khudobin
    Vegas – Fleury/Subban/Sparks
    Boston – Rask/Halak
    Philadelphia – Hart/Elliott
    Nashville – Rinne/Saros
    Chicago – Crawford/Lehner
    San Jose – Martin/Dell
    Montreal – Price/Kinkaid
    Detroit – Howard/Bernier
    New York Islanders – Varlamov/Greiss
    Minnesota – Dubnyk/Stalock
    Los Angeles – Quick/Campbell/Peterson
    Calgary – Rittich/Talbot
    New Jersey – Schneider/Blackwood
    Tampa Bay – Vas/McElhinney
    Anaheim – Gibson/Miller/Stolarz
    Columbus – Korpisalo/Merzlikins
    Ottawa – Anderson/Nilsson
    Winnipeg – Helly/Brossoit/Comrie
    Colorado – Grubauer/Francouz

Ok, here's who I see that might go after a backup. Leafs might not even have the space for a 1.15mill goalie. Florida seems to like Montembeault. I don't know enough of Francouz. And Howard/Bernier tandem had the Detroit front office believing in them enough to not trade Howard last yr.

Neuvirth is playing tmo. But who knows his true health.

Minnesota is the only one that really makes sense to me. Stalock is not good, and new GM Bill Guerin may want to improve the organizational depth a little.

    Beat me to it.

Kidding aside, at this time of year everyone thinks they have their goalie position settled so I wouldn't be shocked if he cleared and went to the minors.
