Default One of our keepers is an NHL team

Our league setup is that we keep 6 players, we draft 17 rounds, and we have a weekly lineup of 9F, 4D and 1G.

We also have an NHL team as a keeper (7th keeper) spot and counts for W and OTL (same as the real NHL) in our weekly lineup.

NHL team is a free keeper and cannot be traded.

The only way to change our team is at the draft by drafting a new one instead of a player anytime in the 17 rounds.

My team is EDM and I'm planning of drafting a new one this year.

This is an important move because I will lose a drafted player in the process and I don't want to miss my call. I need to chose well here, it could mean a difference of 20-25 points for a single spot in my lineup.

TB, SJ, TOR, NAS, WPG, PIT, WAS, DAL, STL and BOS won't be available.

    QUESTION:

Wich NHL team would you target?

I need to make a 3-team list here because I'm thinking 3 GMs (ANA, MIN and me) will change their team.

    Thanks a lot

I would wait until the last round and take whichever of Vegas, Calgary, or Colorado is left.

I was also thinking Colorado and Calgary. Also think about Carolina, Florida and Vancouver.

    1. Make this your last or next-to-last round pick, but only if no teams you prefer have gone and you want to get your pick of the rest.

    2. Is your favorite team available? If so, take them, even if they aren't that good. Yes, I'm serious. It's more fun to root for your own team, and it's definitely a good way to pick which team you prefer amongst a tier of options. I tend to go this route when drafting team defense or (especially) kicker in football.

    3. My suggestions: Vegas, Calgary, Colorado, Florida, Carolina, Islanders.

We're 12 GMs from the Montreal area...
I could (surely) pick MTL at the draft.
You'd be ok with MTL over Vegas or Calgary?

Id take Vegas, but as noted before Calgary, Colorado are good options, Florida may be a sneaker as well. In the end I think Vegas is the right pick IMO

I like Colorado personally. Vegas, Calgary and Florida are good choices too. But I really think Colorado is putting together something special. Especially with Makar and Byram as a D pairing and McKinnon and Rant. THey could turn into something of a an NHL dynasty if things go right. I wouldn't be surprised to see them consistently battling in the playoffs for the next 10 years.
